Shoegaze, punk, pop sounds, full on distortion, echoes of so many bands all at the same time, A ONE OFF. In 2007, Triángulo surprised many onlookers by changing the course of peninsular pop with lyrics full of unique references, earthy and yet mystical, religious and ironic, direct… Triángulo’s debut was an instant classic from day one. We all knew it from the start, it came as no surprise, this was truly groundbreaking work. Some media outlets saw it very early on, while others showed symptoms of lethargy, taking time to realise the implacable reality before their eyes. They were one of the groups with most presence in their first year, and their dazzling live performances ended up convincing even the most sceptical.
Triángulo are stars without wanting to be so, and their attitude allows for no second interpretation - they are what they are. When your ears are buzzing in one of their concerts and you think the guitars can’t go any higher… Big mistake!!!! Think Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music mixed with Sonic Youth’s Evol plus a roaring forest fire, everything exploding, and the next level of volume is reached, leaving you unable to close your eyes.
They toured Mexico throughout 2009 on the back of an album released by EMI, leaving a deep impression and legions of fans who could never have expected a storm quite like it behind. The music press is right behind them too.
The surprise of 2007 which we still haven’t recovered from, their homonymous debut album will appear in the must-have lists of the decade for a long time to come.
2010, “Año Santo”. It almost looks like they held back three years before arriving to give us the best antidote to unmoveable tradition. Their second album couldn´t have been given any other name.
