After years in the making, the fully realized debut album ‘Illumination’ from Melbourne’s favorite psychedelic indie-electronic adventurers Miami Horror has finally arrived. With Illumination, Miami Horror has delivered on two years of overwhelming live shows in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and South America and has created an escalating wave of buzz that’s made the group bonafide blog darlings worldwide. Miami horror launched into new stratospheres with their well-developed, polished tracks, performing at the main festivals in Australia and receiving A-list support slot call ups for artists like Phoenix, Friendly Fires, La Roux and a hand-picked hook up from Lilly Allen.
Illumination connects with French house and vintage synth explorers like Giorgio Moroder and Jan Hammer, with some fuzzy psychedelica, wandering kraut rock bass-lines, enough star-gazing hooks to make Electric Light Orchestra blush and plenty of ear-catching pop swagger. Never content to stand still, Miami Horror ambitiously test their boundaries across the album, experimenting with lush, almost chill-wave instrumentals (see the gorgeous Infinite Canyons), futuristic disco gems (I Look To You), summer-bound party jams (Holidays) and anthem-sized synth epics (Sometimes).
The album’s first advance, ‘Sometimes’, placed at #2 on Australian club music lists and at #1 on Hype Machine. The track’s video has received more than 1.5 million views on Youtube. ‘Sometimes’ set the blog world ablaze and could be the perfect song to dance to around the pool, drink in hand under the sun during the next few months. The advance is part of an album that will be released May 10 and won’t disappoint. Miami Horror will perform the songs in concert on May 13 in Barcelona and May 14 in Madrid. The tickets for the performance at Charada venue go on sale this week.
